Home Learning

The way in which pupils carry out home learning at Blackthorn has recently changed. From this term, a termly home learning grid will be shared within ‘Home Learning Books’ given out at the beginning of each term.  This grid will detail home learning tasks which focus on English, Maths, ILP and Physical tasks.  Pupils will need to choose and complete at least one task a week from the grid and points will be awarded depending on the level of challenge they have chosen; the points for each task will be indicated on the grid.  Over the term, pupils will accrue points to be exchanged for GREAT Effort stickers/stamps.

Home Learning books need to be returned to school every Wednesday morning for sharing and then books will be returned to pupils on a Friday.

The new home learning tasks will encourage independence as pupils can choose which tasks they wish to complete. Pupils will be able to choose a task that interests them and hopefully become more engaged with the whole process of home learning.  Please support your child to complete home learning tasks to the best of their ability and share the experience with them each week.
